Our Story

Float Your Boat is a family-owned business founded on a simple but powerful hope: to create meaningful employment opportunities for young people with disabilities.

Our son Josh was born with developmental disabilities, but from an early age, he looked forward to one important milestone—getting a job when he turned sixteen. Like many young people with cognitive challenges, however, he submitted applications only to be passed over, sometimes before even being given the chance to interview. Still, we knew his goals were within reach. He just needed the right opportunity.

So we decided to create one.

We combined two of Josh’s favorite things—music and sweets—and built a business where he could thrive as part of a team. What began as a small shaved ice stand in a shed in Payson quickly became something more. After countless trips to restock soda, we started to question whether shaved ice was truly the right focus.

One thing was clear: people crave ice-cold soda, fresh from the fountain, served right where they are. And in our book, soda and ice cream belong together like peanut butter and jelly. That realization became the foundation of Float Your Boat.

Today, Float Your Boat delivers refreshing fountain drinks and delicious ice cream wherever the fun is happening. And because no great treat experience is complete without great music, we make sure the soundtrack flows right alongside the soda.
